Cray Valley Radio Society will not be alone in celebrating the bi-centenary.

These stations are also active:

GB200RN
The Royal Naval Amateur Radio Society will be using this special callsign from HMS Collingwood, Portsmouth, from 1 to 28 October. Six operators will be active at GB200RN and will be working CW and SSB on HF as propagation permits. There will be no 160m activity, but there will possibly be activity on 2m also. Operating times will be available closer to the event. The RNARS has its own website at www.rnars.org.uk

GB200HNT
Members of the Barry Amateur Radio Society will be operating the official Welsh Trafalgar Day station from HMS Cambria, a Royal Navy shore station on the Bristol Channel.

GB2OOV
The Royal Naval Amateur Radio Society will be using GB2OOV from HMS Belfast moored on the River Thames at London Bridge. Look for this station on 20/40m CW and SSB from 1 – 28 October 2005.

GB4BOT
This station will be activated by the Trewellard Amateur Radio Club from Pendeen, nr. Penzance.

It is believed that the news of the Battle of Trafalgar fought on 21 October 1805 was announced in Penzance before anywhere else in the United Kingdom. The schooner "Pickle" bringing the dispatch passed the news to a fishing boat, the crew of which brought it ashore to the Mayor, who announced it during a Ball at Penzance Assembly Room. He later arranged a service at Madron Church - since celebrated annually as "Trafalgar Day".

This will be held at Parson's Lodge Battery in Rosia Bay, (This is a battery over looking the Bay where Lord Nelson's body was brought ashore after the battle). They will be transmitting as from 10.00 till late in the evening, and of course, the event will carry a commemorative QSL card.
